Another One in the Books
The March 28 Coward To Cowboy #11.5 Truck Roping put 78 teams in the box, paid back 90% of entries, and crowned a fresh group of winners across four rounds and an average. If you weren't there, here's how the day shook out.
The Format
This was our 11.5 Truck/90% Payback roping. The structure paid heavy at the top and rewarded teams who put four steers together cleanly across the rounds.
By the numbers:
- 78 teams entered (4 head, $400 entry)
- 6 holes paid in the average
- $53,720 total average pot
- $1,000 round money in the short go
- 10% stock charge built into the payback
That's a 90% payback structure, which is what keeps real ropers coming back. Money in is money out, minus the stock charge.
Short Go (Round 4)
The fastest team in the short round took home an extra $500 per man.
| Place | Header | Heeler | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | Colby Willard (4+) | Dillon Black (7+) | 12.350 |
A 12.35 in the short go is no accident. Both Willard and Black backed in knowing what they had to do and got it done.
Average Payoffs (4 head)
Six holes paid, with the top team splitting nearly $18,000 between header and heeler.
| Place | Header / Heeler | Time | Payoff (each) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | Jon Michael Loflin (4) / Waylon Buskirk (7+) | 34.750 | $8,864 |
| 2nd | Mike Woolven (4+) / Cody Warner (7+) | 37.990 | $6,178 |
| 3rd | Colby Willard (4+) / Cody Warner (7+) | 38.800 | $4,566 |
| 4th | Henry Gibbes (4) / Jacob Coleman (5) | 40.630 | $3,223 |
| 5th | Clay Collier (4+) / Ryon Ramsey (7) | 41.550 | $2,417 |
| 6th | Brent Kittle (6) | 43.860 | $1,612 |
Standout Performances
A few names showed up more than once on the payout sheet, which is exactly what you want to see at a roping like this:
- Colby Willard — Won the short go and placed 3rd in the average. Big day.
- Cody Warner — Heeled to two of the top three average teams.
- Brent Kittle — Placed in two of the bottom average holes, which adds up.
- Jon Michael Loflin & Waylon Buskirk — 34.75 on four head to win it.
Why These Ropings Matter

If you missed March 28, the next one is May 9 at T&M Arena in Vaiden, MS (12.5 and 8.5 ropings, with a 1988 Ford F-250 going to the High Point Roper of the Day). Register here before spots fill up.
Want In Next Time?
A Coward To Cowboy Membership ($35/month or $350/year) gets you exclusive event access plus the full library of training videos. Or grab a $100 Day Pass for entry to a single roping. Either way, when you back in the box at one of our events, you're roping for real money.
